In a world where so much content and art is sexualised, this project takes a deeper dive into the sensual and focuses on beauty without objectifying a person.

Rose Tinted Lens, named after my partner and model Holly Rose, is a series of work exploring the gaze and how it interacts in the queer space, especially within the asexual and non-binary communities.

The inclusion of mirrors in my work gives a sense of agency, destabilising the power-play between audience and subject. It is important to show my awareness of the audience’s participation in the image, this interaction invites the viewer to reflect on themselves and to think about what exactly are they looking at, and how do they feel about it.

The subject in the photograph looks through the mirror towards the viewer, this is no act of vanity; instead this is a challenge of self-reflection.
